How to measure your ring size

Shopping for rings, especially when shopping online, can be difficult, especially if you don’t know your size. Buying the wrong wring size can be frustrating, that’s why we’ve decided to make a self-ring-sizing guide for you.

"Your ring should fit your finger comfortably; snug enough so that it will not fall off, but loose enough to slide over your knuckle with some resistance."

Because we want to help you make shopping for rings easier, get in touch and request one of our free ring sizers to help you make your decision.

Before you sit down to measure your ring size there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Your knuckle - If you have larger knuckles, you should order half a size bigger than what your finger indicates, otherwise you won't be able slide a ring into the right place.
  • Measure multiple times - It is a good idea to measure your finger three to four different times over a couple of days, this is because the size of your finger fluctuates due to the difference in temperature, medications, hydration, hormones and more: your finger can be smaller the colder you are and more swollen if you're overheated.

If you find that you are in between sizes, consider going up to the next size. While you don’t want your ring to fall off, it’ll leave you room if your fingers swell. And, if it is a little too big, our team of jewellers at Mari Thomas can help to resize the ring for you.
