Mari Thomas is an artist and goldsmith and her passion for designing and creating shines through in each piece of her jewellery. Her distinctive collections, one-off pieces and commissioned works are highly sought after and collectible.
Establishing the business in 1998, Mari is one of Wales' leading artists. She is one of the few to win both the coveted Gold Medal for Craft and Design and the Craft and Design Award at the National Eisteddfod - the highest accolades in Wales. She is also a selected member of Design Nation - a portfolio of some of the most acclaimed and innovative designers and craftspeople from across the UK and has the accolade of being one of their Fellows.
Mari has designed and created pieces for many well known personalities; - Royalty including HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH Prince William.- Actors and Artists including Dame Judi Dench, Ioan Gruffudd, Michael Sheen, Sir Bryn Terfel, Sting, and Only Men Aloud.- Theatrical producers such as Cameron Mackintosh and Lord Lloyd Webber and style icon Daphne Guinness.
Clients have included BBC Wales, Wales Millennium Centre, National Library of Wales, the Welsh Rugby Union and Arts & Business Cymru. Mari has also made the Urdd Eisteddfod crown, two National Eisteddfod of Wales crowns and the HRH Prince William Cup.
In recognition for her contribution to the arts in Wales, Mari was awarded an honorary fellowship from the University of Wales Trinity St David.
As a graduate of the School of Jewellery in Birmingham she is delighted to now be working closely with the school, and is part of their judging panel on their Industry Awards and annually sponsors design graduates with her own mentorship award.
