Meet Mari

Mari Thomas started the business back in 1998 in a workshop at the bottom of her garden, at her home in Llanelli, South Wales. Her main customer leads back then were her family and family friends. They would come to visit 'the shed' and to take a look at Mari's creations. 'The shed' was where many of her now well-known collections started their journey which quickly became sought after.

As the business evolved and expanded its customer base, Mari moved out of 'the shed' and into a workshop in Pembrokeshire and then into a Gallery and Workshop in North Yorkshire. The opportunity then arose to redesign the interior space of the Norwegian Church in Swansea's thriving Marina. This allowed Mari to open a larger gallery with the capacity to offer a private commissions area, a large workshop and a contemporary retail space to showcase her award winning collections along side other selected contemporary jewellers.

During these years, Mari's jewellery successfully participated in National and International exhibitions showcasing in London, Japan, New York and Dubai. She has won the prestigious Gold Medal Award for Design at the National Eisteddfod Wales, based upon an acclaimed stream of work incorporating the Welsh Language

When the regeneration of Swansea Marina had slow down, Mari was presented with the opportunity to reconsider it's position and location. The picturesque market town of Llandeilo, West Wales was the obvious choice to establish the new Mari Thomas Gallery having closer links to the Welsh speaking community.

In 2018, Mari purchased the three storey historic Georgian building, The Old Castle Hotel in Llandeilo, South Wales. Here, we house two gallery areas, two workshops a private office space and a seperate office area where all the behind the scenes work happens.
