Sustainability & Ethos
We are committed to maintaining integrity throughout, being consistently honest, ethical and sustainable.
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint. The majority of our lighting in the gallery and workshops and offices are low energy LED and on a daily basis we recycle as much as possible and are reducing our use of plastics where we can and are constantly looking for suitable alternatives.
Materials - Diamonds.
All our diamonds have and have always been carefully sourced and our long term and trusted suppliers all adhere to the Kimberly Process ensuring that they are conflict free and sources in the most ethical and responsible manor. We have and will always turn away working with diamonds even supplied by customers for remodeling when the source of the stone is in question.
Materials - Precious metals
All our gold, silver, platinum and palladium is comes from trusted supplies who are members of the Responsible Jewellery Council. The RJC is a standards set organization established to ensure and reinforce consumer confidence in the jewellery industry. The RJC and it’s members are opposed to activities which directly finance, benefit or facilitate armed conflict, extreme violence and human rights abuses. It promotes responsible ethical, human rights, social and environmental practices throughout the jewellery supply chain and it complies with the relevant United Nations sanctions resolutions and laws implementing such resolution
All the gold we purchase is recycled gold and we recycle all our off cuts which are melted down and reused in our commissions and collections . We have looked at the possibility of using Fair Trade Gold but since it is still involves mining then it is not good for the planet so we choose recycled.
Our silver for the most part is sourced from recycled and we have always recycled our own off- cuts which are melted down to find their way back into our collections.
Our packaging from our shipping boxes to our jewellery boxes (apart from the button), tissue paper and carrier bags are all biodegradable and recyclable and made from responsibly sourced sustainable paper.
We re-use our postage jiffy bags as many times as possible and have made an conscious effort not to purchase any new ones. We use (and reuse) clear plastic bags to store the jewellery and keep it airtight. We are currently looking at bio-degradable bags to completely replace the ones we have however, some studies show that they only degrade to a toxic mush or they need industrial conditions to degrade and can't be recycled so alternatives are being looked at as a matter of urgency.
