MARI THOMAS DESIGNER AND GOLDSMITH

I don't follow trends. For me, every piece has to earn its place. My collections come from real things, an idea I couldn't let go of, a symbol of connection, a memory looking for a form to live in.

It all starts in my mind. I sketch, I make notes, I work an idea out on paper, and then it's realised in metal at my bench here in Llandeilo. My work is made in Britain, with roots in the historic Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, where I trained and still keep close ties.

Nothing I make is by accident. Every choice, the line, the weight, the finish, the shape, is a deliberate one. In the end, a piece of jewellery isn't made to be looked at. It's made to be worn, and to become part of your own story.
