MARI THOMAS

Mari Thomas is an established, respected and sought after contemporary jeweller, goldsmith and artist, with 26 years of experience operating from South Wales.

Mari's wealth of experience has enabled her to hone her craft and make a mark nationally and internationally as a leading artist and jeweller; creating collections that are wearable pieces of art. 

Her jewellery is distinctive and bold, with a strong sense of identity and story running through each collection, crown, trophy and bespoke piece.  

The jewellery collections that dominate the Gallery are accessible pieces of wearable art each with a story to tell. They are inspired either by Welsh heritage, the natural, beautiful broken landscape of Wales or creative ideas and their processes; offering the wearer a unique expression to treasure.

During her career she has won numerous design awards including the prestigious Gold Medal for Craft and Design at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. In recognition for her contribution to the arts in Wales she received an honorary fellowship from the University of Wales Trinity St David.

She has received many prestigious commissions by some of the leading cultural institutions such as BBC Wales, National Eisteddfod of Wales, Wales Millennium Centre, National Library of Wales and the Welsh Rugby Union. Mari has also made the Urdd Eisteddfod crown and two National Eisteddfod of Wales crowns.

She has designed and delivered statement pieces for many well known personalities, dignitaries and Sovereign such as King Charles III, Actors Ioan Gruffudd, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Sheen, Musical artists such as Bryn Terfel, Sting, Boy George, Kim Wilde, Aled Jones, Tim Rhys Evans and Only Men Aloud, Theatrical producers Cameron Mackintosh and Lord Lloyd Webber and style icon and artist Daphne Guinness.

Her jewellery has appeared on the pages of Vogue, Tatler and Hello. She exhibited nationally and internationally including Tokyo, France, New York, Dubai and most recently COLLECT at Somerset House in London.

In 2012 Mari purchased the The Old Castle Hotel in Llandeilo West Wales. The ambience is calm and friendly, with the lights showcasing Mari’s beloved collections, as well as the work of over 35 of the finest national and international jewellers and artists. 

Mari Thomas welcomes the work of other talented jewellers and artists, creating a space that is fitting to their skill, talent and excellence in design. It also allows for greater accessibility for customers, offering more choice for a better experience.

She is an alumni of Goldman Sachs 10ksb programme graduating from Saiid Business School Oxford University in 2019 and has been made a Fellow at Design Nation - a portfolio of some of the most acclaimed and innovative designers and craftspeople from across the UK
