Carthenni takes its name from the carthen, the traditional Welsh woven blanket found in homes across Wales for generations. This collection is a collaboration between the artist Bex Elliott and me, bringing together Bex's knowledge of these old weave patterns with my creative jewellery skills.

The iconic, homely patterns are transformed into modern jewellery. The Silhouette pieces are cut from solid silver, the shape of the weave left to speak for itself. The Embossed pieces are worked in relief, with highlights in 22ct gold picking out the pattern.

Though entirely new and contemporary, they echo fragments of traditional Welsh design, summoning constancy, hiraeth, and the memories of home. Designed with Bex and handcrafted here in Wales.
