GEN Sunglasses by Anna Lewis

GEN, is generation X. Born in the 70’s they are the last feral analogue generation.
The frame is inspired by the 80’s and works in textures and details that map the evolution of technology during the childhood and teens of generation X. They spanned the transition from toys like the Etch-a-Sketch, to games like Pac-Man. A time when a yellow Walkman was a prized possession and a mix tape was the ultimate gesture of adoration.

This frame has been designed to standard proportions and to be lighter than it looks but it has an oversized personality. At first glance GEN has a nostalgic 80’s vibe but details matter. The bold deep top of the frame cleverly tapers in to the cross-laminated accent colour, so that it is lighter for all day comfort. There is a subtle asymmetrical ribbed detail over one lens and a rough carved rib along the temples, all of which speaks to the transition of a generation from analogue to digital.
